‘Maybe we’ll strike Washington next,’ threatens Iranian MP

Lawmaker from Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee boasts his country’s military already has missiles capable of striking every European country, adds that Iran has ship-launched missiles enabling attacks on Washington.

Iran’s military already possesses ballistic missiles capable of reaching every country in Europe, a senior Iranian lawmaker boasted this week, adding that Iran’s navy is able to hit Washington DC.

On Sunday, MP Amir Hayat-Moqaddam made veiled threats against the United States and European powers, boasting that Iran’s military is able to carry out missile strikes on every city in Europe, as well as major American cities on the East Coast.

Hayat-Moqaddam, a member of the Iranian parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said in an interview with Didban Iran that Iran has developed its ballistic missile technology and naval launching capabilities for the past 20 years, enabling it to strike not only Europe but also the US.

“We can move our ships to within 2,000 kilometers of the US and from there target Washington, New York, and other cities,” Hayat-Moqaddam claimed. “Right now, all European countries are within our range.”

The comments came days after Britain, France, and Germany told the United Nations last week they are poised to reimpose sanctions on Iran, beginning at the end of August.

Iran launched over 550 ballistic missiles and over 1,000 suicide drones against Israel during the 12-day war in June, along with a small, symbolic missile attack on an empty US airbase in Qatar.

During the interview Sunday, Hayat-Moqaddam mused that Iran’s next strikes could target the US directly, including Washington DC.

“Perhaps our next missile will hit Washington directly. We can target America from the sea. The Aerospace Force of the IRGC has been working for 20 years on making it possible to strike America from Iranian ships. Even if we have not yet reached this technology, it remains within our grasp.”
