Mike Huckabee: Tucker Carlson will never understand US-Israel partnership

US Ambassador to Israel tells Knesset Caucus for Israel-US Relations that threats facing Israel also threatened the United States.

US Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee defended the close ties between the United States and Israel during a gathering in the Knesset on Wednesday, while mocking critics of America’s relationship with Israel, including far-right podcaster Tucker Carlson.

“There are many countries with which we have alliances. But there is only one country in the world with which we have a truly unique partnership — and that is Israel,” Huckabee said at a meeting of the Knesset Caucus for Israel–US Relations.

The caucus — a Knesset parliamentary forum focused on strengthening Israel–US ties — is led by co-chairs MK Ohad Tal, MK Boaz Bismuth, MK Michal Shir Segman, and MK Moshe Tur-Paz. Wednesday’s meeting was held to mark the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States.

“The freedom you enjoy here, which is threatened every day by enemies like Iran, is also a threat to the United States,” Huckabee continued.

Many Americans do not think about this because Iran is thousands of miles away. But for 48 years, Iran has brought terror to America, killed Americans and is working to build a global nuclear threat.”

The former Arkansas governor and Fox News host mocked Carlson, who interviewed Huckabee at Israel’s largest airport last week, over claims Carlson made about alleged harassment by Israeli airport officials.

“I wanted to bring Tucker Carlson; he would not leave the airport,” said Huckabee. “I think he still thinks he’s being harassed.”

“I don’t know what it was. Maybe they didn’t give him the snacks he wanted in the lounge.”

Huckabee defended US military aid to Israel, calling it “a very smart investment,” which ultimately returns to the US, in the form of jobs created in the arms industry via dollars spent by the Israeli military on American-made weapons.

“One of my jobs is to obviously represent the US government to the State of Israel, but the other part of my job is to represent the value of the partnership back to the US and its people.”

“There are hundreds of good-paying jobs in the United States that are the direct result of the money. That, people like Tucker Carlson will never understand, is a very smart investment.”
