NBA star Omri Casspi returning to Israel to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv

The NBA superstar will return to the hall where he first learned to play.

Omri Casspi is returning to Israel. The first Israeli to play for the National Basketball Association (NBA), he signed a three-year contract on Tuesday to play for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Rising to a height of 6.75 inches, his career in the world’s premier basketball league spanned 10 years.

He played for the Sacramento Kings, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Houston Rockets, New Orleans Pelicans, Minnesota Timberwolves, Golden State Warriors, and Memphis Grizzlies.

Casspi had also played played with Maccabi’s youth and adult teams and helped the club win a 2009 state championship before going on to the NBA.

I didn’t believe I would be so excited, “said Caspi.” I come home, I return to Maccabi Tel Aviv. I go back to the house where I grew up and learned what playing basketball is in this hall up here. ”

“I am proud and excited to start wearing Maccabi’s jersey with the Star of David on the back,” Casspi said, who will be wearing the No. 7 jersey.

“It’s a great privilege. This is the place that taught me what it is to be a winner, what it is to strive for victory at every opportunity. Maccabi today signed not just a player, but a fan.”

In the NBA, Casspi led NBA and WNBA women’s league members on tours of Israel to show solidarity with the Jewish state.

Casspi has captained Israel’s national team since 2015.
