Netanyahu declares Israel can hit all of Iran’s nuclear sites, even underground

On Thursday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Kan News that Israel can hit and destroy Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, even the Fordo underground facility.

When asked about the statements of some security experts that Israel can’t destroy Iran’s underground nuclear facilities without the help of the US, Netanyahu replied, “We will achieve all our goals and hit all of their nuclear facilities. We have the capability to do that.”

The Fordo nuclear facility is almost entirely buried under a mountain, and it is believed that only US “bunker buster” bombs can destroy it.

Whether US President Donald Trump “wants to join or not — that’s entirely his decision,” Netanyahu added.

“He’ll do what’s good for the United States, and I’ll do what’s good for the State of Israel,” says Netanyahu, and remarked, “as the saying goes — every contribution is welcome.”

A US official told The Times of Israel on Thursday that Trump would decide whether or not to join Israel’s military operation against Iran in 24-48 hours.

However, the  White House announced on Thursday night that Trump would render a decision on whether or not the US will be involved in the Iran war in two weeks.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt read out a statement by Trump that said, “Based on the fact that there is a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the near future — I will make my decision on whether or not to go within the next two weeks.”

Trump, who expressed hope at seeing a nuclear deal with Iran succeed even after the conflict with Israel began on Friday, has more recently expressed uncertainty about whether or not the US will be involved militarily in the war.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday, he said, “I may do it, I may not do it. Nobody knows what I’m going to do.” However, the president also described Iran as “totally defenseless” and hinted that the US has issued its “ultimate ultimatum.”
