Netanyahu invites Trump to address Knesset after ‘emotional’ call on hostage deal

Netanyahu “thanked President Trump for his efforts and for his global leadership,” while Trump praised Netanyahu for his “resolute leadership” and actions taken to reach this moment.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and U.S. President Donald Trump just completed what Netanyahu’s office described as an “emotional and warm” phone call, following Hamas’s acceptance of the hostage-release component of Trump’s Gaza war plan.

In the statement, Netanyahu invited Trump to address the Knesset — a symbolic move underscoring the magnitude of the breakthrough.

The two leaders exchanged congratulations over what they called a historic achievement: the signing of an agreement to free all remaining hostages.

Netanyahu “thanked President Trump for his efforts and for his global leadership,” while Trump reportedly praised Netanyahu for his “resolute leadership” and actions taken to reach this moment.

In his separate statement, Netanyahu cast the approval of phase one of the deal as both a diplomatic and moral victory.

He declared that “all our hostages will be brought home,” calling the development a turning point borne of steadfast resolve, military pressure, and the “great efforts” of Trump as a trusted ally.

He added, “From the beginning, I made it clear: we will not rest until all our hostages return and all our goals are achieved.”

Netanyahu closed by invoking a shared bond: “God Bless Israel. God Bless America. God Bless our great alliance.”

He and Trump also “agreed to continue their close cooperation,” signaling that their joint role in shepherding the deal forward is far from over.

This call comes as Hamas and Israel finalize the first phase of their agreement under Trump’s 20-point proposal, which includes a full hostage release and the withdrawal of Israeli forces to a negotiated line.
