Israeli prime minister rejects push by group representing hostage families and bereaved families of fallen IDF soldiers calling on the government to restore siege on Gaza, including end to water and electricity transfers.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a petition to end Israeli transfers of water and electricity to the Gaza Strip during the ongoing war with Hamas.
On July 15th, Netanyahu penned a letter to the Heroism and Hope Forum, a group representing bereaved families of fallen IDF soldiers and relatives of hostages held in the Gaza Strip.
The missive was a response to a letter by the forum demanding the cessation of humanitarian aid and cutting off Gaza from water and electricity.
In his letter, the Prime Minister replied that the war goals have not changed and that he remains committed to defeating Hamas.
Netanyahu, however, emphasized that Israel is committed to fighting the war against Hamas in accordance with international law.
“Our actions are consistent with international law so that we can continue to fight with strength and determination as long as necessary — until victory is achieved,” Netanyahu wrote.
“We continuously examine our actions to ensure the best possible outcomes from our perspective. I reiterate in the clearest terms: Hamas will no longer rule Gaza. We will strike it, defeat it, and make it pay the full price for its cruel aggression. Our brave sons and daughters did not fall in vain. Thanks to them, and with God’s help, our state exists. The eternity of Israel is secured by their blood.”
This Tuesday, the Heroism and Hope Forum chairman Yehoshua Shani – whose son fell in the line of duty – responded to Netanyahu’s rejection of their request, warning that the continued entry of humanitarian aid strengthens Hamas, and argued that it therefore is not required by international law.
“Everything that enters Gaza reaches the enemy — international law does not require aid to the enemy,” Shani said.
“Our hostages are not being held according to international law, Hamas didn’t care about international law on October 7th.”
