The Shin Bet has uncovered a suspected assassination plot against Netanyahu involving a woman in her 70s.

An elderly woman was arrested by the Shin Bet earlier in July for allegedly plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu using an improvised explosive device (IED), according to Hebrew-language media reports.
The woman, a resident of central Israel, has not been publicly identified. While her exact age is unconfirmed, i24 News reported that she is over 70.
Authorities believe the woman was involved in a broader conspiracy to kill Netanyahu, which included the assistance of additional participants.
She reportedly made inquiries indicating interest in acquiring a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) launcher, the outlet added.
Details of the case remain under a gag order, and the arrest was only made public on Wednesday — approximately two weeks after she was taken into custody.
Prosecutors are expected to file terrorism-related and other criminal charges against her on Thursday.
It remains unclear whether her motivations were political or whether she had been in contact with Iranian agents online.
In recent months, the Shin Bet has arrested several Israelis suspected of working for Iran, including during the recent conflict between the two countries.
One of those arrested was named as Roi Mizrahi, who was apprehended for allegedly spying on behalf of Iran and planting a bomb near the home of Defense Minister Israel Katz.
According to a Channel 12 report, Mizrahi was deeply in debt due to gambling and agreed to spy in exchange for money.
During his interrogation, Mizrahi reportedly admitted he knew he was working with Iranian intelligence.
Shortly after retrieving a buried backpack containing a bomb and placing the device near a location where it could have killed Katz, Mizrahi was arrested by the Shin Bet.
Another Israeli recently arrested, named as Dimitri Cohen, spied on the family of Amit Yardeni, who is engaged to Netanyahu’s son, Avner.
He traveled to the small community where the Yardeni family lives and took photographs of their home.
