Netanyahu says ‘Trump and I see eye to eye’

Netanyahu looks to enhance the US-Israel relationship during his visit to the United States, in which he will meet a number of top officials including President Trump.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the US-Israel relationship will grow even more following his upcoming meeting with US President Donald Trump.

“The alliance between Israel and America has always been extremely strong and is about to get even stronger,” Netanyahu said before boarding his plane to the United States.

“President Trump and I see eye to eye on the dangers emanating from the region but also on the opportunities, and we’ll talk about both, as well as upgrading the relations between Israel and the United States in many, many fields,” Netanyahu added.

The rhetoric of both Netanyahu and Trump have indicated a full alignment with each other at least with regards to Iran. Netanyahu had called for the reimposition of sanctions on Iran after the Islamic republic conducted a ballistic missile test at the end of January. Shortly thereafter, the Trump administration put “Iran on notice,” and White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer announced new sanctions against “25 individuals and entities that provide support to Iran’s ballistic missile program and the Islamic Revolutionary Quds Force.”

Netanyahu will also be meeting this week with Vice President Mike Pence and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson as well as with Congressional leaders of both the Republican and Democratic parties.
