North Korea threatens to sink Japan, beat US like ‘a rabid dog’

North Korea threatened extreme violence against the US and Japan over new UN sanctions leveled against it.

Japan’s top government spokesman said Thursday that a North Korean threat to sink Japan with a nuclear bomb is “extremely provocative and outrageous.”

A statement from an organization called the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee, which is ironically entrusted with improving North Korea’s global image, attacked the US for leading a push for stronger United Nations (UN) sanctions against North Korea, and railed against “the Japs” for backing the US campaign.

“A telling blow should be dealt to them (Japanese) who have not yet come to senses after the launch of our ICBM over the Japanese archipelago. The four islands of the (Japanese) archipelago should be sunken into the sea” by a nuclear bomb, the statement reads in part. It was distributed by the Korean Central News Agency, the state news service.

North Korea recently launched a long-range missile that flew over Japan and set off air defense alarms at various places, sending citizens running for shelter.

‘Now is the Time to Annihilate the US’

The statement also read that “the army and people of the DPRK are unanimously demanding that the Yankees, chief culprit in cooking up the “sanctions resolution,” be beaten to death as a stick is fit for a rabid dog.”

“There’s limit to patience. Now is the time to annihilate the US imperialist aggressors,” the Korean organization declared. “Let’s reduce the US mainland into ashes and darkness. Let’s vent our spite with mobilization of all retaliation means which have been prepared till now.”

North Korea often issues bellicose threats that it does not actually carry out. But Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, responding to a reporter’s question about the North Korean dispatch, said the statement “significantly escalates tension in the region and is absolutely unacceptable.”

The UN Security Council (UNSC), “a tool of evil which does not ensure the global peace and security but ruthlessly wrecks them on the contrary” as described by North Korea, unanimously approved new sanctions Monday after North Korea carried out its sixth and strongest nuclear test on Sept. 3.

Although the latest sanctions are not as tough as what the US had sought, they are expected to have a significant impact.

“The adoption of heinous “sanctions resolution” hardens our faith that what we should depend on is only our self-defensive nuclear force as well as our unshakable will to go only along the road of simultaneously pushing ahead the economic construction and the building of nuclear force,” the North Korean statement concluded.
