PA president glorifies Oct. 7th massacre as ‘major victory’ for Palestinians

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas glorified the Hamas-led October 7th massacres in a recently-published interview, praising the mass murders as having achieved important strategic goals for the Palestinians.

“This attack shook the foundations of the Israeli entity,” Abbas said in an interview with PA-controlled news outlet Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, which was translated by Palestinian Media Watch.

The clips appeared to have been filmed several months ago, but were published last week as part of a promotional campaign for a new book about Abbas’ political career.

Abbas praised the brutal terror attack as having secured critical aims for the struggle against the Jewish State.

October 7th “exposed the [false] claims that [Israel] has an invincible army,” Abbas continued, adding that the slaughter had shown “the glaring failure of this entity’s components, especially the army and the various security forces.”

Israel’s failure “to discover what Hamas was planning and to block the attack and prevent heavy losses” was also a major strategic victory for Hamas, he added.

Notably, Abbas did not condemn the attack, which included the slaughter, rape, and mutilation of Israeli civilians including the elderly, women, and children.

Rather, the octogenarian Palestinian leader lamented that the Israeli response to the attack had resulted in serious damage to the Strip.

“As important as the goals that Hamas attempted to achieve through this attack may have been, they are not comparable to the damages and heavy losses that the Gaza Strip residents… have suffered,” Abbas admitted.

“Without absolving the hated Israeli occupation of the primary responsibility for the destruction of the Gaza Strip, Hamas provided [Israel] with the excuses to do what it did: genocide and war crimes against our people.”

Abbas is slated to travel to the United Nations in New York City on June 17th, where is expected to receive recognition of a Palestinian State.

Palestinian Media Watch demanded that Abbas retract his statements praising the massacre, or the UN cancel the event.
