A Palestinian terror suspect held at an Israel Defense Forces base in the Jordan Valley was shot dead after freeing himself from restraints and attacking a female soldier, the military said.

According to the IDF, the detainee managed to remove his handcuffs while in custody and lunged at a servicewoman inside the facility, causing minor injuries.

A second female soldier at the scene responded according to protocol and opened fire, killing the suspect.

The wounded soldier was taken to a hospital for treatment, and her family was informed of the incident.

No further information was released regarding the identity of the suspect involved in the attack at the base or the circumstances that led to his initial detention.

The military did not provide additional details about how the suspect had been detained or how he was able to break free. The condition of the suspect prior to being shot was not elaborated on beyond the statement that he had assaulted the soldier.

The incident occurred against the backdrop of a broader security campaign conducted by Israeli forces across Judea and Samaria last week.

During that operation, at least 130 Palestinians were detained in what the IDF described as a wide-ranging arrest effort. Many individuals were questioned at the scene and later released, while others were taken into custody for further interrogation.

The activity focused heavily on northern areas, including the villages of Burin and Madama near Nablus, Aqqaba in the Tubas region, and Immatin near Qalqilya.

The IDF said the arrests were part of ongoing efforts to address security threats in the area.
