Two rockets fired from Gaza at Israel’s civilian population late Saturday night landed near the border fence, causing no damage or injuries.

Sirens were not set off in wake of the rocket fire.

IDF forces are searching for the rockets and working to determine if they fell on the Israeli or the Palestinian side of the fence.

No organization has taken responsibility for the attack.

Ynet news reports that Israel’s security forces fear that more rockets may still be launched by the terrorists following the recent unrest and violence in Judea and Samaria.

The previous time that Palestinian terrorists in Gaza fired a rocket at Israel was on July 16. It exploded in an unpopulated area near the city of Ashkelon, causing no injuries or damage. The Israeli Air Force (IAF) responded by attacking Hamas terror targets in Gaza.

The past several weeks have seen a sharp increase in rocket attacks from Gaza.

The IDF has placed full responsibility for the attack on the Hamas terror organization, which controls the Strip. “Hamas is the address and it bears responsibility,” the IDF announced after the last attack, saying it would not tolerate any attempts to harm Israeli civilians.

A Salafist terror organization linked with the Islamic State (ISIS) is assumed to be behind the attacks.

Earlier this month, an ISIS-affiliated group fired three rockets into southern Israel from Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. In that attack, too, no one was hurt and there was no damage.

Some analysts believe the rocket fire at Israel is part of an internal power struggle between the ISIS-linked terror group and the Hamas terror organization, which rules the Gaza Strip.
