Palestinians ban ‘Justice League’ film over Israeli actress

The Palestinians again shunned a cultural item because it is in some way associated with Israel.

Theaters in Ramallah, the de-facto capital of the Palestinian Authority (PA), have banned the screening of the new “Justice League” movie because of Israeli actress Gal Gadot’s participation in the picture.

Palestine Borj Cinemas, the movie distributer in the PA, posted on its Facebook page an announcement over the weekend stating that screening of the Justice League film “has been suspended for the presence of the Israeli representative in the heroes of the film.”

“It was stopped because we don’t promote any actor, no matter how famous, [who] glorifies the actions of the occupier in our land,” the company stated.

Gadot served in the IDF and has been a vocal supporter of the Jewish state.

Israel’s NRG news site reported that protests were held outside the theater prior to the cancellation of the screenings.

Palestinians routinely ban any content that has any connection to Israel.

In October, a Palestinian film festival booted a new motion picture by Lebanese director Ziad Doueiri because of his activity in Israel.

Doueiri’s film, “The Attack,” about a Palestinian surgeon living in Tel Aviv who discovers that his wife carried out a deadly suicide attack, was filmed in Israel and featured several Israeli actors. That film was banned in Lebanon and most Arab countries.

Similarly, “Wonder Woman,” staring Gadot, was banned by several Arab countries over the summer.

The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan also banned the screening of the superhero film over Gadot’s leading role, as did Lebanon, Tunisia, and Algeria.
