Mamdani’s far-left Democratic Socialists of America condemns Trump’s Gaza peace plan, openly backs anti-Israel “resistance.”

A far-left political movement associated with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani has come out against the ceasefire deal in the Gaza Strip while openly endorsing anti-Israel “Palestinian resistance.”
On Monday, the Democratic Socialists of America issued a statement rejecting the Gaza peace deal laid out by President Donald Trump, which secured a ceasefire in the coastal enclave and the return of all 20 living Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
Issued just hours after the hostages were returned to Israel, the DSA statement warned that the “conditional ceasefire” agreement “will not end Israel’s assault on the Palestinian people or the theft and occupation of Palestinian lands.”
The DSA, which, since its inception in the 1980s, has adhered to a staunchly anti-Israel position, offered no criticism of Hamas or other Gaza terror groups and endorsed the “Thawabit,” the name given to a set of Palestinian “red lines” for any future peace deal.
Israel has called the Thawabit, which mandates the “right to resistance” and demands a right of return for Palestinians to the State of Israel, a dog-whistle for the destruction of Israel and endorsement of Palestinian terrorism.
“We affirm, in alignment with AlThawabit… upholding Palestinians’ rights to resist occupation in order to secure justice and dignity,” the DSA wrote.
The statement went on to accuse Israel of genocide, apartheid, and fascism, and even condemned Israel’s strikes against Houthi terrorists in Yemen, conducted in response to multiple ballistic missile attacks.
“Across the region, Israel terrorizes the people of Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Qatar, and Iran while wielding the implicit threat of nuclear engagement to violently impose its fascist, expansionist aspirations,” it read.
In a separate statement, Mamdani said the ceasefire offered a “glimmer of hope,” while castigating Israel and American support for the Jewish state.
“Today’s scenes of Israelis and Palestinians are profoundly moving: Israeli hostages being freed and families reunited after years of fear, uncertainty, and torture; the first days in Gaza without relentless Israeli bombardment of Palestinians as families return to rubble and loved ones freed from detention,” Mamdani said.
The mayoral frontrunner went on to accuse Israel of genocide in Gaza and slammed American aid to Israel.
“We have watched as our tax dollars have funded a genocide. The moral and human cost will be a lasting stain and requires accountability and real examination of our collective conscience and our government’s policies.”
