‘Sign the deal or we start bombing you’: Trump threatens Iran

President Donald Trump issued a high-stakes ultimatum to the Iranian regime on Wednesday, warning that failure to finalize a conflict-ending agreement would trigger an aerial campaign of unprecedented intensity.

The President’s message, posted to his social media platform, effectively draws a line in the sand as diplomatic negotiations reach a critical juncture in Beijing and Washington.

The Ultimatum: “Epic Fury” or Total War

President Trump laid out a clear “carrot and stick” approach to the ongoing crisis, linking the fate of the Iranian economy and the safety of its infrastructure to the pending 14-point memorandum of understanding.

“Assuming Iran agrees to give what was agreed upon, which maybe is a big assumption, Operation ‘Epic Fury’ will end, and the very effective blockade will allow the Strait of Hormuz to be open to everyone, including Iran,” Trump wrote.

The President was blunt about the alternative: “If they do not agree, the bombings will begin, and unfortunately they will be at a level and intensity far higher than before.”

Conflicting Signals from Tehran and D.C.

The threat comes amid a fog of contradictory reports regarding the status of the “Project Freedom” successor deal:

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, currently in Beijing, stated today that Tehran will only accept a “fair and comprehensive” agreement, code for the immediate lifting of all sanctions and the unfreezing of all assets.

While Trump suspended the aggressive “Project Freedom” escorts last night to allow for talks, the naval blockade remains in full force.

Experts estimate the blockade is costing Tehran approximately $500 million per day in lost revenue.

Violence in the Strait Continues

The urgency of the ultimatum is underscored by continued instability in the world’s most vital energy artery.

Just yesterday, a French-owned CMA CGM tanker was attacked in the Strait of Hormuz, resulting in crew injuries and vessel damage.

With 20% of the world’s oil supply at stake, Washington officials believe the next 48 to 72 hours will be decisive.

If Tehran rejects the current proposal, the U.S. is expected to transition from a defensive blockade to the “unprecedented” offensive strikes promised by the President.
