Shuva Malka, the 18-year-old high school student who was critically wounded by a Palestinian terrorist in a stabbing attack in Afula last Monday, thanked Israel’s security forces and medical teams for saving her life while calling on the Jewish nation to pray for her.

“Thank you to the Master of the World who really did give us a huge miracle,” she said from her bed at HaEmek Medical Center in Afula on Sunday, Israel’s Ynet news reported.

“Every second in which I am alive and strong, thank God, is not to be taken for granted at all,” said Malka.

She was initially listed in critical condition, but her situation has recently improved.

Professor Doron Kopelman, director of the surgical team at HaEmek Medical Center, said the patient “is recovering from a very serious, dramatic stabbing, and there was a huge risk to her life. She will remain with us for a few more days, and I hope that she will be able to gradually return to normal life.”

The 20-year-old terrorist, Nur Shinawi of Jenin, was arrested shortly after the attack. The Nazareth Magistrate’s Court on Monday extended his remand by a week.

“I feel like this stabbing was not something that is personal to me. It is against the entire people of Israel. It is a reminder that we must move forward, grow from this, work harder and move up a gear. Pray,” she pleaded. “The nation of Israel is strong and we have huge strength, and that is what will really strengthen me.”
