Trump calls on Arab world to join peace accords after crushing Iran’s nuclear ambitions

Following a spectacular 12-day military campaign that devastated Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, President Trump declared Thursday that Middle Eastern countries should now embrace the Abraham Accords to secure lasting regional peace.

“Now that the nuclear arsenal being ‘created’ by Iran has been totally OBLITERATED, it is very important to me that all Middle Eastern Countries join the Abraham Accords,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “This will ensure PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST.”

The Abraham Accords, launched during Trump’s first presidency in 2020, normalized diplomatic relations between Israel and four Arab nations: the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Sudan, and Morocco.

Efforts to expand membership stalled during the Biden years as Gaza war casualties mounted.

Trump’s post came after American forces struck three key Iranian nuclear facilities on June 21, marking the first direct U.S. military action against the Islamic Republic.

“Tonight, I can report to the world that the strikes were a spectacular military success,” Trump told the nation from the White House that Saturday evening, flanked by Vice President Vance and key cabinet members.

“Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.”

American intervention came nine days into an intense conflict that began June 13 when Israel launched surprise attacks on Iranian military and nuclear sites.

Israeli forces killed several Revolutionary Guard commanders and at least 10 leading nuclear scientists during the opening strikes, according to intelligence reports.

Iran retaliated with waves of ballistic missiles and suicide drones targeting Israeli cities. Over 550 missiles and more than 1,000 drones were fired at Israel during the conflict, with most intercepted by air defense systems.

Still, Iranian strikes killed 28 people in Israel and wounded over 3,200, Israeli authorities reported.

A fragile ceasefire brokered by Trump took effect June 24, ending the 12-day war. Both Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed victory, though regional tensions remain elevated.

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei dismissed reports of scheduled U.S.-Iran talks, calling them “fake” and designed to stoke tension.

“There is no confirmed time or place for any negotiations with the U.S.,” Baghaei said during a radio Thursday interview.

Still, he acknowledged that messages continue flowing through indirect channels, including Swiss and Pakistani embassies representing American and Iranian interests in Tehran and Washington.
