Trump claims Israel would have been annihilated by Iran if Harris had won

President Donald Trump credits the June 2025 war and American airstrikes against Iranian nuclear facilities with saving the State of Israel from an impending Iranian attack.

The State of Israel would not have survived if Vice President Kamala Harris would have been elected president in 2024, President Donald Trump mused, arguing that Iran would likely have annihilated the Jewish state in a nuclear attack last year.

On Tuesday, Trump spoke by phone with 77 WABC‘s Sid Rosenberg, who opened the interview by celebrating the return of the body of Ran Gvili, the last Israeli hostage held in the Gaza Strip.

When Rosenberg suggested that the hostages would not have been returned had Trump lost the 2024 election, the president responded by saying that he believes Israel would not exist if either Joe Biden or Kamala Harris were currently in the White House.

“Well, actually, Sid, I think, really, you wouldn’t have Israel right now if that were the case, because there wouldn’t have been that whole situation that we did, Midnight Hammer, where we knocked out the nuclear power,” Trump said, referring to the one-day American air campaign last June in which American bombers struck Iranian nuclear facilities.

“They would have used that if they had it. I don’t think you’d have Israel, I really don’t think so. The attack wouldn’t have taken place, wouldn’t have been allowed to have taken place.”

Had the US failed to strike Iran, Trump continued, Tehran would have ultimately launched a nuclear attack on Israel.

“They instead would have been attacked. Think of it. Somebody was saying it today, I never gave it that kind of thought because we’d like to think a little more positively, but they were saying today, you wouldn’t have Israel. I don’t think Israel would be around.”

Trump has repeatedly claimed that prior to the June war, Iran was approximately one month away from achieving nuclear weapons capabilities.

During an address to supporters in Clive, Iowa, on Tuesday, Trump reiterated the claim, saying: “They were about a month away from having a nuclear weapon.”
