Trump rips France for blocking arms shipments to Israel

The French government has barred United States military aircraft carrying munitions bound for Israel from traveling through its airspace, drawing sharp criticism from both Jerusalem and Washington.

On Tuesday, the Israeli Defense Ministry announced that the IDF will be ending all arms purchases from France, “replacing it with domestic Israeli procurement or purchases from allied countries,” a ministry spokesperson said.

The spokesperson cited France’s recent moves against Israel, including the ban on US arms shipments entering French airspace.

Later that day, President Donald Trump weighed in on France’s decision, calling it “very unhelpful,” warning that the US “will remember” the ban.

“The Country of France wouldn’t let planes headed to Israel, loaded up with military supplies, fly over French territory,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.

“France has been VERY UNHELPFUL with respect to the ‘Butcher of Iran,’ who has been successfully eliminated! The U.S.A. will REMEMBER!!!”

Trump also criticized American allies that have “refused to get involved” in the conflict with Iran, including Britain, advising those countries to “start learning how to fight for yourself.”

“The U.S.A. won’t be there to help you anymore, just like you weren’t there for us. Iran has been, essentially, decimated. The hard part is done. Go get your own oil!”

Italy and Spain also imposed restrictions this week on US military flights.

Madrid announced on Monday that it has banned American military aircraft involved in the war with Iran from entering Spanish airspace.

A day later, Italy said that it would not allow US warplanes en route to Iran to transit through Italian airfields.

According to a report by Corriere della Sera, Italy prevented several US bombers from landing at Sigonella, an American air base in Sicily and one of seven American air bases in Italy.
