Trump: War will continue until objectives achieved

President Trump calls on “Iranian patriots” to rise up and overthrow the regime, says US and Israeli resolve has “never been stronger.”

President Donald Trump declared Sunday that the United States and Israel will continue to strike Iran until all objectives set for the war have been achieved, ruling out the possibility of an early negotiated end to the conflict.

The president released a video statement through his Truth Social account, justifying his decision to launch a major air campaign against Iran over the weekend.

“They have waged war against civilization itself. Our resolve, and likewise that of Israel, has never been stronger,” Trump said. “An Iranian regime armed with long-range missiles and nuclear weapons would be a dire threat to every American.”

“For almost 50 years, these wicked extremists have been attacking the United States while chanting the slogan ‘Death to America’ or ‘Death to Israel’ or both,” the president added. “These intolerable threats will not continue any longer.”

Trump declared that the US will not agree to a ceasefire until its goals have been achieved.

“Combat operations continue at this time in full force, and they will continue until all of our objectives are achieved. We have very strong objectives,” Trump said.

Earlier on Sunday, Trump told the Atlantic that the new Iranian leadership council, formed following the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, had reached out to the US for peace talks.

The president called on Iranian soldiers and other pro-regime forces to surrender or face “certain death,” while urging dissidents to rise up against the Islamic Republic.

“I once again urge the Revolutionary Guard, the Iranian military, the police, to lay down your arms and receive full immunity or face certain death. It will be certain death. It won’t be pretty.”

“I call upon all Iranian patriots who yearn for freedom to seize this moment, to be brave, be bold, be heroic, and take back your country. America is with you. I made a promise to you and I fulfilled that promise. The rest will be up to you. But we will be there to help.”
