President Donald Trump warned Iran on Sunday that the United States could take military action if Tehran closes the Strait of Hormuz and threatened further strikes against Iran if Hezbollah continues attacks from Lebanon.

In an interview with Fox News chief foreign correspondent Trey Yingst, President Trump said he had delivered a direct message to Iranian leaders regarding the strategic waterway.

“You close it and you won’t have a country,” Trump said. “You won’t even make it back to your f—— country.”

President Trump said 19 million barrels of oil passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday and suggested the United States could become the “Guardian Angel” of the route and claim 20% of the oil moving through it.

The president also repeated earlier comments that the United States could impose charges on vessels using the strait if negotiations with Iran fail.

“If they don’t make a deal, we’ll collect tolls,” the president said.

President Trump went on to warn that Washington could assume direct control over the waterway if necessary.

“We may take over the Strait, if we have to,” he said. “I’ll blow the s— out of them.”

The comments came as President Trump also addressed Iran’s role in Lebanon and Hezbollah’s activities there.

On his Truth Social platform, President Trump wrote: “Iran must immediately stop their highly paid PROXIES in Lebanon from causing trouble.” He added: “If they don’t, we’ll hit Iran very hard again, just like we did last week, only harder!!!”

Israel has repeatedly accused Hezbollah of violating a ceasefire that took effect Friday.

A senior IDF official told Fox News on Saturday that Hezbollah fired more than 50 rockets at Israeli troops operating in southern Lebanon overnight. The official also accused the Iran-backed group of killing five Israel Defense Force soldiers during the previous 48 hours.

President Trump expressed frustration with Israel’s efforts against Hezbollah during his interview with Yingst.

“They can’t do anything without knocking buildings down,” Trump said.

Referring to the campaign against Hezbollah, President Trump added: “I’m close to giving it over to Syria.”

When asked about Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s comments regarding Iran’s right to enrich uranium, President Trump responded: “He better watch his mouth.” He added: “He better shape up or we’ll take over the rest of the country.”

President Trump also said the 60-day ceasefire and negotiation framework established under the Memorandum of Understanding signed last week “is just an option,” adding, “I can do whatever I want after that option.”
