Tucker Carlson: Trump an ‘enthusiastic tool for Israel’

Online conspiracy theorist Tucker Carlson accuses President Donald Trump of being a “tool for Israel” after the 2024 assassination attempt.

Tucker Carlson suggested in a new episode of his online show that President Donald Trump’s position on Israel and Iran changed after the July 2024 assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania, accusing Trump of becoming an “enthusiastic tool of the government of Israel.”

Carlson made the comments during a Monday episode focused on the Butler shooting, in which Trump was wounded in the ear, rally attendee Corey Comperatore was killed and two others were injured.

Federal authorities identified the gunman as Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was killed by the Secret Service.

Speaking about Trump’s decision to launch military action against Iran, Carlson said Trump had campaigned in 2024 as an opponent of regime-change wars before changing course in office.

“He spent his campaign in the 2024 race arguing against regime-change war, attacking people in favor of it — and then he launched it,” Carlson said. “And not just launched it, but became this kind of enthusiastic tool of the government of Israel.”

Carlson then linked the shift to the assassination attempt while stopping short of explaining a direct mechanism.

“So, maybe those are all organic changes of heart, but he’s never explained how or why. And the demarcation, the change point, the pivot, seems to be this shooting,” he said.

Carlson also said earlier in the episode that “the most shocking” part of Trump’s second term was that he “shut down the investigation into Butler,” according to Mediaite.

Carlson, once one of Trump’s most influential media allies, has repeatedly criticized US involvement in the Middle East and argued that Trump’s Iran policy contradicts the “America First” platform that helped return him to office.

Trump has rejected the claim that Israel pressured him into military action against Iran.

In March, when asked whether Israel had forced his hand, Trump said, “If anything, I might’ve forced Israel’s hand.”

In a separate interview reported this week, Trump said Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu would “have no choice” but to accept any Iran agreement reached by Washington.

“I call the shots. I call all the shots,” Trump said. “He doesn’t call the shots.”
