Tucker Carlson will soon publish a recent interview with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, with the journalist saying in a promotional video posted on X that he expected the episode to be published on Sunday or Monday.
Carlson, an independent conservative journalist who hosted a popular Fox News show for many years, launched his own eponymous podcast in 2024.
In a clip published on his X account on Saturday evening, Carlson said he had held a remote interview with Pezeshkian, noting that the conversation was “awkward” because it happened via a translator.
The journalist said he only asked simple questions of the leader, including “What is your goal? Do you seek war with the United States? Do you seek war with Israel?”
He specified that he avoided asking Pezeshkian questions that he knew would not be answered honestly by the Iranian leader.
Those type of questions included “was your nuclear program totally disabled by the bombing campaign by the U.S. government a week and a half ago?”
Fending off criticism for giving a platform to Pezeshkian, Carlson said that the purpose of the interview was to add to the “corpus of knowledge” available to American citizens.
“Can you believe everything you hear from the President of Iran? Probably not,” Carlson noted.
He added that he had requested for the third time in recent months to interview Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and that he hoped the premier would accept his invitation.
While aligned with President Donald Trump, Carlson has expressed criticism of the U.S. leader for supporting Israel in the conflict against Iran.
He blamed “warmongers” in the Republican party for pressuring Trump into attacking Iran.
“These are scary people. Pray that Donald Trump ignores them,” Carlson wrote on his X account, shortly before the U.S. bombed key nuclear sites in the country.
