UN adopts more anti-Israel resolutions

The United Nations continues to serve as a stage for Israel-haters and anti-Semites as well as for those countries that hide their good ties with Israel with a show of fake disdain.

Just weeks after the United Nations’ Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) board adopted a resolution denying the historical connection between the Jewish people and the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday passed another 10 anti-Israel resolutions.

Two of the resolutions the GA endorsed, denied the Jewish ties to the Temple Mount and described it solely by the Muslim name “Haram al Sharif,” without any mention of the two ancient Jewish Temples.

Four of the resolutions dealt with the so-called Palestinian refugees and extended the mandate of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) to June 2020.

Israel’s Ambassador Danny Danon led efforts by the Israeli Mission to the UN and by Israeli embassies to enlist European Union members to speak out against the language, and some states did abstain during the votes, but none showed support for Israel.

However, the diplomatic efforts led to the EU members issuing an “explanation of vote” clarifying the site’s religious significance to the world’s three monotheistic religions.

“We will continue to fight at all times, and in all forums, against those who deny the historical and religious ties that bind the Jewish people with Jerusalem,” stated Danon.

“Even when the votes are stacked against us, and resolutions which are completely divorced from reality succeed in passing UN bodies, it is important that moderate states stand up and make sure that their voice are heard to counter the lies disseminated by the Palestinians,” he added.
