‘UN antisemites better buckle up,’ warns Trump nominee Elise Stefanik

President Trump’s nominee for United Nations Ambassador elicits applause – and boos – during address at ADL summit, as the establishment Jewish group reboots its relationship with Trump.

President Donald Trump’s nominee for ambassador to the United Nations drew both applause and boos during her address to a summit hosted by the Anti-Defamation League on Monday.

New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, who gained national attention during a series of 2023 congressional hearings on college campus antisemitism, met at the summit with the parents of slain Israeli-American IDF soldier Omer Neutra, whose remains were taken hostage by Hamas terrorists on October 7th.

“This morning in New York, I spoke at ADL’s Never is Now Summit, and I met with Ronen and Orna Neutra, the loving and dedicated parents of Omer Neutra, an Israeli-American IDF soldier and New Yorker who lost his life bravely defending Israel against the barbaric Hamas terrorists on October 7th. We must not rest until ALL the hostages are brought HOME,” Stefanik tweeted.

ADL CEO and director Jonathan Greenblatt praised Stefanik during the summit, saying that as ambassador to the UN, she is “exactly what we need.”

“Since 10/7, there have been people who did not show up for our community, the allies who simply went missing when it actually mattered,” he said. “And then there have been those who absolutely did show up and met the moment.”

Stefanik, Greenblatt continued, “is one of those people.”

Attendees cheered Stefanik during her speech, including her closing warning: “Hear me clearly here and now: the antisemites at the United Nations better buckle up, because I’m coming. ”

The congresswoman also took aim at Hamas supporters in the U.S.

“Everyday Americans understand the need to support Israel’s fight and that the same pro-Hamas terrorist sympathizers who chant ‘Death to Israel’ also chant ‘Death to America.’”

“These terrorists want to topple Israel, topple the U.S., and we must never yield. Never again is right now,” she added.

Stefanik’s praise of President Trump, however, drew mixed responses, with some audience members booing and others walking out of the hall when she reiterated the president’s claim that had he been in office in 2023, “October 7th would never have happened.”

“He has brought his pro-Israel policies to the White House, and in just a month, the world has watched as President Trump reasserted America First, peace-through-strength foreign policy,” Stefanik continued.

The Senate’s Republican leadership has yet to move forward with Stefanik’s confirmation vote amid lingering concerns that her departure from the House could hobble the GOP’s razor-thin majority in the lower chamber of Congress.

According to a report by The Hill, Stefanik could remain in the House until as late as April.
