UN official: ‘Israel tortures the entire Palestinian population’

U.S.-sanctioned rapporteur Francesca Albanese continues to target the Jewish state, claiming Israel is guilty of “collective vengeance” against Palestinians.

A United Nations official with a long history of making incendiary statements about Israel, including promoting antisemitic conspiracy theories, has made a new public allegation — claiming that Israel is subjecting the entire Palestinian population to “torture.”

Addressing the United Nations Human Rights Council, Special Rapporteur Francesca Albanese argued that the international community has failed to do enough to stop what she described as Israel’s persecution of Palestinians.

“Israel has effectively been given a license to torture Palestinians because most of your governments, your ministers, have allowed it,” Albanese said.

“Torture extends far beyond prison walls, in what can only be described as a torturous environment imposed by Israel across the entire occupied Palestinian territory,” she continued.

She added that Israel’s alleged treatment of Palestinians “suggests collective vengeance and destructive intent.”

Israel’s mission to the United Nations strongly rejected Albanese’s remarks in an official statement.

“Francesca Albanese is not a promoter of human rights; she is an agent of chaos… and any document she produces is nothing but a politically charged, activist rant,” the Israeli response said.

It further accused Albanese of promoting “dangerous extremist narratives” aimed at undermining the existence of the State of Israel.

Albanese has also faced backlash from the United States. The administration of Donald Trump recently imposed sanctions on her over her support for investigations by the International Criminal Court (ICC) targeting American citizens.

The U.S. does not recognize the jurisdiction of the ICC and maintains policies imposing financial penalties on individuals and entities it views as acting against American interests through the court.

In an interview with Tucker Carlson in December 2025, Albanese claimed she has been “financially censored,” saying she cannot access a credit card or obtain health insurance.

She also alleged that her American-born daughter could face a felony criminal charge for giving her a present, though she did not provide evidence to support the claim.
