US prepared to end ceasefire in days, launch massive strikes on Iran – report

The White House has reportedly already drafted plans for massive attacks on Iran if nuclear talks fail.

President Donald Trump is weighing an expanded military campaign against Iran once the current ceasefire runs its course, Israel Hayom reported on Tuesday, citing a source familiar with administration planning.

According to the source, the Trump administration has already decided upon the next phase in the war with Iran, centered on the use of overwhelming force, exceeding the first phase of the air campaign from February 28 to April 8.

The report said that the White House has all but settled on the plan, with the source claiming that the only scenario likely to force the administration to change its plans would be one in which Iran demonstrates a willingness to accept US demands regarding its nuclear program.

The status of the ceasefire itself, which Trump agreed to extend on Tuesday, remains in doubt.

Multiple reports have claimed that the White House has given Iran a three-to-five-day window to respond to America’s proposed nuclear deal, after which the US will resume hostilities if the Islamic Republic fails to return to talks in Islamabad.

Trump denied the claims during a telephone interview with Fox News Wednesday night. He said he is under no pressure to reach an agreement with Iran, reiterating his claims that the US naval blockade has throttled Iran’s economy.

The diplomatic pause has done little to calm the broader conflict.

Iran seized two ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday and fired upon a third vessel, while Tehran continued to denounce the US naval blockade as a violation of the ceasefire.

Iranian Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said reopening the strait was impossible under such a “flagrant breach of the ceasefire.”

Qalibaf also rejected Trump’s pressure tactics directly.

“You did not achieve your goals through military aggression, and you will not achieve them by bullying either. The only way is recognizing the Iranian people’s rights.”
