The latest military action followed remarks by President Donald Trump at the NATO Summit indicating there would be additional strikes.

The United States launched another round of military strikes against Iran on Wednesday, with US Central Command saying the operation was ordered to weaken Tehran’s ability to threaten maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz.

“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, US Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said in a post on X.

The command added that “The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.”

Iranian media also reported the attacks. Mehr said explosions were heard near Bandar Abbas, a city close to the Strait of Hormuz.

The latest military action followed remarks by President Donald Trump at the NATO summit indicating that additional strikes were likely.

“We hit them very hard last night, and we’ll probably hit them hard again tonight,” Trump said. “They’ve been the bully of the Middle East, and they’re not the bully anymore.”

The renewed operation follows fighting between US and Iranian forces on Tuesday.

The clashes came after Washington reimposed sanctions on Iran following attacks on three vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

This is a developing story.
