Vance heads to Pakistan talks as ceasefire deadline nears

US pushes for deal as Iran signals defiance ahead of talks

World Israel News Staff

US Vice President JD Vance is expected to depart for Islamabad for urgent talks with Iran, as the ceasefire approaches its deadline and pressure builds for a deal.

President Donald Trump warned that failure to reach an agreement could lead to renewed strikes, while signaling flexibility by extending the timeline slightly.

According to reports, the White House waited throughout Monday for confirmation that Iran would participate, with Tehran initially stalling under pressure from the IRGC to refuse talks while the US blockade remains in place. A green light from Iran’s supreme leadership reportedly came late Monday.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, expected to play a leading role in the talks, blasted Trump and made clear Tehran’s stance.

“Trump… seeks to turn this negotiating table into a table of surrender,” he wrote, warning Iran is ready to escalate if talks fail.
