A terminally ill left-wing activist from Tel Aviv allegedly planned to kill Netanyahu and take him “to the grave” with her.

New details have emerged about the political orientation and motivation of a woman arrested for allegedly plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The would-be assassin is reportedly an active member of the left-wing, anti-government protest movement.
The woman, whose name has not been made public, is in her 70s and was recently diagnosed with a terminal illness, according to Hebrew-language media reports.
Aware that she was nearing the end of her life, she reportedly wrote to fellow anti-Netanyahu activists that she wanted to “take Bibi to the grave with me,” referring to the prime minister by his nickname.
A resident of Tel Aviv, the woman also allegedly expressed a desire to harm Yitzhak Wasserlauf, the Minister for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev, and the Galilee.
Wasserlauf is a member of the right-wing Religious Zionist Party.
According to the reports, she asked other activists suspicious questions about Netanyahu’s security arrangements, tried to find out where she could obtain weapons, and expressed interest in using an explosive device to murder the premier.
A report by Ynet indicated that former Shin Bet agent and prominent anti-Netanyahu activist Gonen Ben Itzhak was informed of the woman’s conversations and alerted police.
She was arrested earlier in July, but news of her arrest was only made public on Wednesday.
Terror-related charges are expected to be filed against her on Thursday, though many details of the case remain under a gag order.
Channel 12 News reported that the woman has “partially confessed” to elements of the plot during interrogation by the Shin Bet.
In July 2024, police arrested a man from the northern town of Binyamina after he threatened to kill Netanyahu on social media.
“Where is the Shin Bet to arrest me? I’m saying it now, on Saturday night I’m murdering Bibi,” the man reportedly wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
