New York City mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani brought his weeklong “Five Boroughs Against Trump” tour to one of the city’s most pro-Trump neighborhoods Wednesday night, where he was met with jeers, bullhorn blasts and even an arrest.

Protesters lined the street outside a Staten Island restaurant, shouting “Get out of town!” and “Go back to where you came from.”

Some yelled, “Remember October 7th, you Jew hater!” as the Democratic socialist arrived with his supporters. Police officers stood between the two sides while Mamdani made his way inside for the rally.

Among the loudest was Staten Island artist and activist Scott LoBaido, who said he was arrested after first trying to confront Mamdani inside, then continuing his protest outside with a bullhorn.

LoBaido said he received three summonses for disorderly conduct, a sound violation and foul language.

“I’ll have to plead guilty on that one,” he said with a grin. “Foul language is my middle name.”

LoBaido also brought some visual firepower to the protest. He had painted a huge mural showing Mayor Eric Adams and Mamdani “gaslighting New York” and attached it to his car like a parade float, parking it nearby for all to see.

At one point during the confrontation, LoBaido shouted, “Let me tell you something f—bag, you are not welcome on this f—king island,” while mocking the candidate as “Mamdandy” and accusing him of hating “this f—ing country” and “this f—ing island.”

Mamdani simply smiled and waved as protesters chanted “F you” and “Go home.”

Inside the restaurant, Mamdani repeated one of his key campaign promises: keeping New York City a sanctuary city for immigrants.

“We will continue to uphold that status and ensure that we do not allow ICE agents entry into New York City properties, whether they are schools, hospitals, or even the properties of New York City contractors, unless they can provide a judicial warrant signed by a judge,” he said.

He described the campaign swing as a show of defiance in both friendly and hostile areas, and cast the mayoral race as a battle over the city’s identity and values.

As the rally wrapped up, cheers from supporters mixed with the chants of hecklers outside, setting the tone for what is shaping up to be a highly polarized race leading into November.
