Arab terrorist sentenced to 18 years for stabbing attack

An Israeli court on Monday meted out justice to two Palestinian terrorists who participated in two separate acts of terrorism against Israeli civilians.

Jerusalem’s District Court on Monday sentenced an Arab terrorist to 18 years in prison after finding him guilty of attempted murder for a stabbing attack he carried out a year ago.

Subhi Abu Khalifa, 20, stabbed and seriously wounded an Israeli civilian at a light rail in northern Jerusalem. He then assaulted a security guard and tried unsuccessfully to grab his pistol.

Police apprehended him shortly after he fled the scene.

The court also ordered Abu Khalifa to pay NIS 150,000 in damages to the victim, and another 30,000 shekels to the security guard he assaulted.

The court also found Jerusalem resident Abed Dawiat guilty of causing the death of Alexander Levlovitz, 64, in a rock-throwing attack on Rosh Hashanah a year ago.

Dawiat and three other Palestinian youth threw rocks at Levlovitz’s car as he was returning from a holiday meal, causing him to lose control and crash. Levlovitch subsequently died of a heart attack, while another Israeli was seriously wounded in the attack.

Levlovitz was the first victim to be murdered in the current Palestinian terror wave.

The terrorists told investigators after they were captured that they carried out the attack in the name of the Hamas terror group.

Sentencing will be handed down at a later date. He is expected to be sentenced to 18 years for this offense.

Dawiat’s house was sealed by Israeli forces in April, and his Israeli residency status was revoked by then Minister of Interior Aryeh Deri last January.
