CAIR-backed Muslim candidates secure record 42 US election wins

Zohran Mamdani’s New York mayoral win was among 42 CAIR-supported victories.

Muslim candidates won a record 42 state and local elections across the United States earlier this month, with the terror-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) saying that the victories signaled a new era in American politics.

The RAIR Foundation, a watchdog group that tracks Islamic ideology in the U.S., reported that the results represent the largest number of victories to date for candidates affiliated with CAIR.

CAIR has long faced accusations of promoting a radical Islamic agenda, including links to terror financing and support.

Ahead of the November elections, CAIR launched its own Super PAC — the Unity & Justice Fund — which backed candidates for offices including mayor, judge, lieutenant governor, and other major public roles.

The organization publicly celebrated the results, publishing data on races won by candidates it supported.

According to RAIR, CAIR contributed major financial support to these campaigns, including more than six figures toward New York City mayoral winner Zohran Mamdani.

In addition to Mamdani, CAIR-backed victories included Ghazala Hashmi in Virginia, who became the first Muslim lieutenant governor in U.S. history, as well as Abdullah Hammoud of Dearborn, Michigan, and Mo Baydoun of Dearborn Heights, Michigan, who are the mayors of the two largest Muslim-majority cities in the state.

Overall statistics published by CAIR show that its endorsed candidates won six mayoral races, four statewide and legislative offices, six school board or education-related seats, two judicial positions, and 20 city council or commissioner seats.

CAIR described the results as proof of a rapidly expanding influence network and a new period of political strength for Muslims in the United States.

“These victories are not only wins for Muslim Americans; they are wins for all Americans who believe in justice, equality, and democratic participation,” CAIR said in a press release.

“Moving forward, we are excited to mobilize the American Muslim community to reach even greater heights of civic engagement in the 2026 midterm elections,” the organization added.
