President Donald Trump renewed his endorsement of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday, directly urging Israelis to vote for the longtime Israeli leader as the country prepares to head to the polls on Tuesday.
In a lengthy message addressed “to the people of Israel,” Trump pointed to his close partnership with Netanyahu and their joint campaign against Iran, arguing that the two leaders must remain together to complete what they started.
“To the people of Israel, to those who haven’t seen it, I am attaching the Endorsement I gave one week ago to your Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote.
“As everyone is aware, including the enemy, Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together.”
Trump cited Operation Midnight Hammer and the ongoing war against Iran, claiming that Tehran’s military capabilities and economy have been devastated.
“We did Operation Midnight Hammer, stopping the World’s Number One State Sponsor of Terror from obtaining a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote.
He went on to claim that Iran now has “No Navy, No Air Force,” that its military and economy are “in shambles,” and that two levels of Iranian leadership have been eliminated.
Trump also pointed to the U.S.-led naval blockade of Iran, saying it had prevented Tehran from obtaining oil.
“When you go to the Polls please remember that Bibi has been an outstanding Warrior Prime Minister!” Trump wrote.
He also invoked longstanding Iranian rhetoric referring to Israel as the “Little Satan” and the United States as the “Big Satan,” declaring that those threats were no longer being heard.
“There can no longer be the chant heard around the World of ‘Death to America, Death to Israel,’ and there won’t be,” Trump said.
“Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister, we have to finish the job that we started!”
The message marked Trump’s second major intervention in Israel’s election campaign in just over a week.
In his endorsement last week, Trump described Netanyahu as a “Great Warrior Prime Minister” and warned Israelis that “anyone other than Bibi” would be the wrong leader for the country.
Trump also warned that the United States could be forced to take further action against Iran without Netanyahu in power.
“If Israel has the wrong Leader, which would be anyone other than Bibi, America will have to do this work ourselves, and I am not inclined to do so,” Trump wrote at the time, before giving Netanyahu his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”
Netanyahu responded by thanking Trump for his support and highlighting their cooperation against Israel’s enemies.
“Thank you, President Trump, for the tremendous support and our work together,” Netanyahu wrote. “Together, we will finish the job!”
Trump’s latest appeal comes in the final stretch of a closely watched Israeli election campaign, with Israelis set to cast their ballots on Oct. 27.
