Charlie Kirk kept Shabbat and was writing a book about it — now posthumously a bestseller

The book explores the Biblical and historical roots of the Sabbath, positioning it as a “radical act of resistance” in a culture dominated by constant noise, digital overload, and busyness.

By Jewish Breaking News

Charlie Kirk, the outspoken conservative activist and founder of Turning Point USA, had long observed Shabbat from Friday evening to Saturday night — a discipline he openly encouraged others to adopt.

“Every Friday night, I keep a Jewish Sabbath,” Kirk said at a recent event.

“I turn off my phone, Friday night to Saturday night. The world cannot reach me, and I get nothing from the world. It will bless you infinitely.”

He stressed that a tech-free Sabbath would ease anxiety, combat depression, and restore health to American families.

Kirk was in the middle of sharing that message in his forthcoming book, Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life.

Published by Winning Team Publishing, the conservative publishing house founded by Donald Trump Jr., the book has now posthumously soared to the top of Amazon’s bestsellers list—three months before its December 9 release.

The book explores the Biblical and historical roots of the Sabbath, positioning it as a “radical act of resistance” in a culture dominated by constant noise, digital overload, and busyness.

“Honoring the Sabbath restores balance, reduces anxiety, and nourishes your soul,” Kirk writes, framing the day of rest as both spiritual discipline and cultural cure.

Publisher notes emphasize that Stop, in the Name of God “will help you discover how observing the Sabbath isn’t a rejection of modern life but a rebellion against busyness and a pathway to genuine connection, peace, and presence. It’s not just a day of rest — it’s a lifeline to reclaiming what truly matters.”

The book is available now for pre-order through Amazon and Barnes & Noble, and is already being hailed as one of the most significant religious and cultural titles of the year.
