Herzog urges confrontation with Iran, the ‘head of the snake’

“The world must wake up and act decisively—before it’s too late. Stopping Iran’s nuclear capabilities is non-negotiable.”

Israeli President Isaac Herzog on Saturday night condemned Iran’s pursuit of nuclear weapons and called on the international community to take urgent action on the matter.

“The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) today released a damning and unprecedented report revealing Iran’s true objective: advancing its nuclear weapons program and obtaining a nuclear bomb,” said Herzog.

“Iran is blatantly violating its core obligations under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, blocking IAEA inspectors and dangerously expanding uranium enrichment. This is a blaring red alert. The international community must not look away—it must act now to stop Iran,” he added.

The IAEA’s confidential findings, obtained and reported by Reuters, mark the first time in nearly two decades that the agency has explicitly accused Tehran of breaching its non-proliferation commitments.

According to the report, Iran conducted undisclosed nuclear activities involving undeclared material at three locations long suspected of noncompliance: Lavisan-Shian, Varamin and Turquzabad.

While some of the violations date back decades, the IAEA report also highlights recent Iranian actions with direct relevance to nuclear weapons development.

Uranium traces were found at two of the four sites under investigation, with evidence of secret experimentation at three of them.

At the fourth site, Turquzabad, nuclear material and/or heavily contaminated equipment from an undeclared program was reportedly stored between 2009 and 2018.

“Iran, the head of the snake of terror and destruction in the Middle East, must never be allowed to possess a nuclear weapon,” said Herzog.

“The world must wake up and act decisively—before it’s too late. Stopping Iran’s nuclear capabilities is non-negotiable. The unprecedented severity of this report leaves no room for hesitation,” he concluded.
