Israel has begun restricting Chinese-made vehicles from entering IDF bases over fears that embedded sensors and cameras could leak sensitive intelligence to Beijing.
The IDF initially implemented parking restrictions for Chinese vehicles at the Israeli C4I Corps base in Tzrifin, which handles command, control, communications, computers, and intelligence operations.
But security concerns quickly prompted commanders to expand those limitations to now cover all electric vehicles across IDF installations, according to Calcalist.
Modern electric vehicles typically contain extensive sensor arrays and connectivity features that Israeli officials increasingly view as potential security vulnerabilities.

Holding nearly 25% of Israel’s automobile import market, Chinese automakers remain the only companies offering electric vehicles under ₪170,000 and hybrid models under ₪150,000.
Future Defense Ministry procurement could become significantly more expensive if Chinese options are eliminated from consideration.
But military leadership faces an awkward contradiction in implementing these new rules, as the IDF’s own officer leasing program currently offers the Chinese-made Chery Tiggo 8 Pro to personnel, though defense contractors have “sterilized” the vehicle’s media systems before delivery.
Israel’s Defense Ministry had previously taken delivery of over 600 Chinese vehicles, including MG ZS EVs and Chery Tiggo 8s, many of which were routinely used to transport officers around its Tel Aviv headquarters.
Israel isn’t alone in taking these precautions. Britain imposed similar restrictions earlier this year, prohibiting Chinese-manufactured cars from accessing military installations as both countries share intelligence concerns about Beijing’s growing influence in the automotive sector.
