A study by the Jewish Federations of North America found a staggering 912% spike in antisemitic comments on TikTok since Oct. 7th.
After years of serving as a breeding ground for antisemitic content, TikTok has finally brought in serious firepower to clean house.
Erica Mindel, who served as an instructor in the Armored Corps of the Israeli army’s Spokesperson’s Unit for two years, will now “develop and drive the company’s positions on hate speech” and “influence legislative and regulatory frameworks,” according to information TikTok provided to Jewish Insider.
Before joining TikTok, Mindel worked as a State Department contractor under Deborah Lipstadt, who served as special envoy to combat antisemitism during the Biden administration.
Dan Granot, national director of antisemitism policy at the Anti-Defamation League, told Jewish Insider that Mindel’s position was created after a “high-level convening” his organization coordinated in 2024 Mindel has listed her new position on her professional page as “Public Policy Manager, Hate Speech, at TikTok.”
Her appointment comes at a time when TikTok has become a hotbed for pro-Hamas content in the wake of the October 7 massacre.
A study by the Jewish Federations of North America found a staggering 912% spike in antisemitic comments on the platform since the attack.
Disturbingly, users who spend more than 30 minutes a day on TikTok are far more likely to hold antisemitic or anti-Israel views—17%, compared to just 6% on Instagram and 2% on X.
