IDF reserve soldier sold info on Iron Dome system to Iran

An Israeli reserve soldier was arrested recently after he allegedly sold Israeli military secrets to Iran.

On Friday, the Shin Bet security agency announced that 26-year-old Jerusalem resident Raz Cohen was taken into custody after authorities discovered that he was in contact with Iranian agents.

Cohen is said to have maintained contact with Iranian handlers for several months while serving as an army technician, working with the Iron Dome air defense system.

According to investigators from the Shin Bet and Israel Police, Cohen carried out a variety of tasks at the direction of Iranian intelligence operatives.

Authorities say Cohen provided detailed information about the Iron Dome system, including operational procedures, weapons capabilities, and deployment patterns across Israel.

He is also accused of sharing the coordinates of key military installations, including major air bases, as well as the names of senior IDF personnel.

In an indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office, Cohen communicated with his Iranian handlers via the Telegram messaging app.

Cohen was recruited by Iran in December while he was active as a reserve soldier.

Over the next few months, Cohen transmitted dozens of photographs and videos, along with explanatory material, exposing sensitive Israeli military information.

Prosecutors also say that Cohen was asked to assist in identifying potential recruits within Israel. These included individuals with financial difficulties or criminal backgrounds who might be willing to carry out violent acts on behalf of Iran. According to the charges, he was promised payment for each person he could recruit.

Investigators say that Cohen compiled a list of several acquaintances, including personal details and contact information. Among those named were individuals with access to sensitive environments, as well as people described as vulnerable to recruitment.

At a later stage, Cohen reportedly severed contact with his Iranian handler after being threatened with exposure. Authorities say he has since confessed to the allegations against him.
