Iran rejects Israeli, Saudi claims that it’s the top terror sponsor

Iran’s Foreign Ministry dismissed assertions from Israel’s defense minister and Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister at the Munich Security Conference, over the weekend, that Iran is the world’s greatest sponsor of terror.

Iran did not take too kindly to the jointly-held view of Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman and Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir that Iran is the main sponsor of global terrorism.

“The parallelism between the positions of the Saudi foreign minister and the Israeli war minister on Iran is not coincidental,” said spokesman for Iran’s Foreign Ministry, Bahram Qassemi, according to Press TV.  “Many instances of evidence indicate coordination between the two regimes in regional cases.”

Liberman and al-Jubeir made their remarks at the Munich Security Conference over the weekend.

Although Israel and Saudi Arabia do not officially have diplomatic relations, senior officials in both countries, including a former Saudi general who visited Israel last summer, have met and discussed how to confront new threats from Iran. However, Qassemi insisted Israel and Saudi Arabia were merely trying to recoup strategic losses in the region.

“Both regimes think they should stir the international atmosphere against Iran as a means of making up for their multitudinous defeats and frustrations in the region,” he claimed.
