Iran to offer reward for assassination of Donald Trump

“We believe the vile president of the United States, the ominous and disgraceful Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander must be targeted and subjected to reciprocal action.”

Iranian lawmakers are considering a bill that would set aside a €50 million ($58.13 million) government reward for the assassination of President Donald Trump, according to a senior member of parliament who described the proposal as retaliation for the deaths of Iranian leaders and commanders during US and Israeli airstrikes.

Ebrahim Azizi, chairman of parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, said Thursday that the measure is among several bills prepared since the outbreak of the March war.

Speaking to Iranian state television, he cast the proposal as part of a broader package of military and security countermeasures.

Azizi said the bill would obligate the government to pay the reward to any person or organization that kills Trump. He also named Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the commander of US Central Command as figures Iran believes should face retaliation.

“We believe the vile president of the United States, the ominous and disgraceful Zionist prime minister, and the CENTCOM commander must be targeted and subjected to reciprocal action,” Azizi said.

He framed the proposed bounty in religious and ideological terms, saying, “Just as our imam was martyred, the president of the United States must be dealt with by any Muslim or free person.”

Azizi said the legislation states that if “any natural or legal person” carries out the act, “the government is obliged to pay €50 million as a reward.”

The proposal comes amid a renewed wave of Iranian threats against Trump, who has been a frequent target of Tehran’s rhetoric since he ordered the 2020 drone strike that killed Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force.

Iran International reported that mobile phone users in Iran received mass text messages earlier in March promoting what was described as an “international campaign to reward the assassination of Trump.” The messages directed recipients to register support through a website and confirm by SMS.

The Tehran-based outlet Didban Iran reported that about 290,000 people had backed the campaign, with pledged rewards totaling $25 million.

US authorities have also accused Iran of pursuing assassination plots against Trump. In November 2024, the Justice Department announced charges over what it said was an IRGC-directed plot to kill Trump before the presidential election.

Another alleged plot surfaced in federal court in Brooklyn, where prosecutors released undercover video of an Iran-linked operative discussing a plan to assassinate Trump in 2024. According to prosecutors, the operative sought to hire two men for the attack and offered an initial payment of $5,000.
