An Iranian missile that struck a building in Beersheba early Tuesday morning killed an IDF soldier, his mother, and his partner.
Cpl. Eitan Zacks, 18, from Beersheba, was in combat training in the Multidimensional Unit (888). Due to security restrictions, he was training remotely.
His mother, Michal Zacks, was also killed, along with his partner, Noa Bogoslavsky, from Arad.
Two others were killed in the missile attack, and 20 people were injured as Iran fired three rounds of missiles into Beersheba between 4:45 and 7:10 a.m., past the time that the ceasefire was intended to begin at 7 a.m.
Two of the 20 missiles Iran fired into Israel on Tuesday morning landed in Beersheba.
The IDF ordered citizens to remain in their safe rooms during the sirens, noting that only five of the 28 people killed during the 12-day war between Israel and Iran were in safe rooms when the missiles struck. The IDF estimates that, without safe rooms, hundreds would have been killed and thousands injured.
Iran again violated the ceasefire later on Tuesday morning, launching a ballistic missile toward the country just hours after the truce took effect.
According to the IDF, two missiles were fired from Iran toward Israeli territory shortly before 10:30 a.m. —approximately three and a half hours after a U.S.-brokered ceasefire began.
The missiles were aimed at northern Israel, triggering air raid sirens and prompting the IDF’s Home Front Command to instruct residents to take cover.
Preliminary reports indicate both missiles were intercepted successfully; no casualties were reported.
Emergency response teams from Magen David Adom (MDA) and United Hatzalah were dispatched to search for missile debris and shrapnel.
“As of now, United Hatzalah dispatch has not received any reports of physical injuries,” a spokesperson for the organization said.
