President Donald Trump said that Israel had agreed to “basic conditions” that would pave the way for a 60-day truce in Gaza, stressing that Hamas must accept the agreement immediately.
“My Representatives had a long and productive meeting with the Israelis today on Gaza. Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalize the 60 Day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the War,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Tuesday evening.
“The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring Peace, will deliver this final proposal,” the post continued.
“I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this Deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Israeli officials did not publicly comment on the post.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet with Trump at the White House next week, with Gaza said to be a major topic of discussion for the two leaders.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Trump said he would take a “firm stance” with Netanyahu in order to pressure him to end the war in Gaza.
Trump added that Netanyahu is interested in wrapping up the conflict and that he expects to announce a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas “sometime next week.”
Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer recently left for the U.S., where is will be holding meetings with senior American officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and White House special envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff.
Over the weekend, Trump reiterated his support for Netanyahu in a series of social media posts.
Trump slammed the ongoing corruption trial against the premier, calling the prosecution a “witch hunt” and describing Netanyahu as a “war hero.”
