New details emerge on CENTCOM chief’s Israel visit

“No date has been set for an American attack on Iran. From our perspective, anything can happen,” Zamir was quoted as saying.

New details have emerged about the high-level meeting between U.S. Central Command chief Adm. Brad Cooper and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir during Cooper’s visit to Israel on Saturday, with Kan News reporting the talks focused on defensive coordination in the event of a potential U.S. strike on Iran.

Cooper was hosted as Zamir’s official guest and held an extended one-on-one meeting with the chief of staff, followed by a broader discussion with senior commanders. The military said the visit was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the two forces.

Kan News, citing an Israeli source familiar with the matter, reported that the discussions addressed preparations for a scenario in which an American attack on Iran could trigger ballistic missile launches toward Israeli territory.

The source said alertness remains high, but that it is still unclear what President Donald Trump will ultimately decide, with a strike still considered a possible option.

Kan News also reported that Zamir addressed the uncertainty in closed-door conversations, saying no date has been set for a possible American strike.

“No date has been set for an American attack on Iran and it’s all in the president’s head. From our perspective, anything can happen,” Zamir was quoted as saying.

Additional details reported by Israel’s Channel 14 suggested U.S. officials told their Israeli counterparts that reaching full readiness for a broader Iran scenario would require preparation time, but that the United States remains ready at all times for a more limited, targeted action.

The report said the U.S. rationale would be to carry out a short, fast, and clean operation if it chooses to strike.

Channel 14 also reported that U.S. officials view regime change in Iran as a critical objective, and that any potential action could focus on figures seen as responsible for violence against civilians and protesters.

At the same time, the CENTCOM commander reportedly emphasized that the United States remains committed to defending its allies in the Middle East, including Israel, and would not allow harm to them.

The meetings came as tensions with Iran continue to build and U.S. forces expand their presence across the Middle East, including the carrier strike group built around the USS Abraham Lincoln.

With more assets flowing into the region, the atmosphere is increasingly tense, and both Washington and Jerusalem appear focused on staying aligned as the situation remains fluid.
