‘No time limit to Iran war,’ says Israeli defense chief

Iran’s leadership is being wiped out, with the survivors fleeing underground, says Israeli defense chief, adding that the air campaign will continue until “all objectives” have been achieved.

Israel’s defense chief declared on Wednesday that the war against Iran will continue “as long as necessary” to achieve all of Israel’s goals, with no time limit imposed on the air campaign.

Addressing reporters at the IDF’s Kirya headquarters in Tel Aviv, Defense Minister Israel Katz touted the success of Operation Roaring Lion against the Iranian regime, adding that the air campaign will continue until “all the objectives” set by the government.

“We will continue crushing the regime day after day,” Katz said. “The operation will continue with no time limit whatsoever, for as long as necessary, until we achieve all of our objectives and are decisive in this campaign.”

Unlike the United States, which has not publicly declared regime change as a goal for the conflict with Iran, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly stated that Israel seeks to topple the Islamic Republic.

Katz said that much of Iran’s leadership has been wiped out since the war began on February 28, with thousands of regime officials and security personnel killed, while Iran’s surviving leaders have fled to underground networks.

“The Iranian leadership is fleeing like rats into the tunnels,” Katz said. “I understand that the morgues in the hospitals are full; many thousands have been killed.”

Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich (Religious Zionist Party), who also serves as minister in the Defense Ministry, echoed Katz’s comments, saying that Israel has “all the time in the world” to complete its objectives against Iran.

“This is the longest and most expensive war in the history of the State of Israel,” Smotrich said of Israel’s years-long conflict with Iran, which in the past was fought primarily against Iranian proxies.
