The US dramatically expanded its campaign overnight, striking targets around Tehran, Semnan—home to Iran’s ballistic missile program—and Bandar Abbas, the regime’s main naval hub on the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM said the seven-hour operation targeted command centers, air defenses, missile and drone sites.
As the strikes intensified, reports said President Donald Trump is weighing a major escalation, including deploying US troops to seize Kharg Island—Iran’s main oil-export terminal—and other strategic islands near the Strait of Hormuz, dramatically increasing pressure on Tehran.
Iran claimed missile and drone attacks on US military facilities in Kuwait and Jordan, while Kuwait reported intercepting hostile drones, Bahrain sounded air raid sirens and Jordanian media said eight Iranian missiles were shot down. Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz also fell sharply after Tehran declared the waterway closed, raising fears of a major disruption to global energy supplies.
