According to unconfirmed reports, one of the Palestinians involved in a major rock attack near Beit El broke into an IDF position and hit a soldier repeatedly on the head with a large rock.

During the attack, Palestinians hurled rocks from the Jilazun community at an IDF post. The incident occurred after Hamas announced a “Day of Rage” on Friday, which is the terrorist organization’s way of inciting Palestinians to commit acts of violence and mayhem against Israelis, regardless of whether they are civilians or soldiers.

On Thursday evening, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a number of security measures in Judea and Samaria in response to a Palestinian shooting attack that killed two Israeli soldiers earlier in the day and a drive-by shooting on Sunday in which a Palestinian injured seven Israelis and killed a 4-day-old baby.

Netanyahu’s office ordered the expedited demolition of attackers’ homes within 48 hours, increased detentions of Hamas terrorists in Judea and Samaria and beefed up of Israeli forces in the region.

He also ordered additional security on roadways and increased checkpoints.

In an announcement Thursday, Netanyahu’s office said he also decided to legalize thousands of existing homes in Jewish communities in Samaria that were built in “good faith” but whose status is unclear.

Speaking at a military ceremony, Netanyahu said Israel suffered a “tough blow” with Thursday’s shooting.

“We will settle the score with whoever did this,” he said. “Our guiding principle is that whoever harms us or tries to harm us will be held responsible.”
