Pro-Palestinian parents campaign against UK antisemitism review in schools

Parents Against Antisemitism condemned the initiative, describing it as a “campaign against investigating antisemitism.”

A pro-Palestinian parents group has launched a campaign opposing a U.K. government review on antisemitism in schools, arguing that the measures could restrict criticism of Israel and calling for the review to be withdrawn.

The campaign, organized by Parents for Palestine and backed by a faction of the National Education Union (NEU), targets the government-commissioned review led by Sir David Bell.

The group contends that the review could limit criticism of what it describes as the “Zionist settler-colonial project” and create a “hierarchy of racism.”

Parents for Palestine says it is seeking the withdrawal of the review because it believes the recommendations could blur the distinction between political activism and criticism of Israeli government policy on one hand and antisemitism on the other.

Jewish organizations have strongly criticized the campaign against the review, arguing that efforts to halt the process risk undermining attempts to address antisemitism in schools.
