Report: Russia gives list of Israeli energy targets to Iran

Ukraine says Russia gave Iran detailed targets inside Israel’s energy grid.

Russia has reportedly provided Iran with a detailed list of critical energy infrastructure sites across Israel, potentially enabling Tehran to carry out retaliatory strikes if the U.S. attacks Iran’s power facilities.

The intelligence, said to include between 50 and 55 locations, identifies key components of Israel’s energy grid.

According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who revealed the information Sunday in a post on X, “Russia shared their satellite intelligence with Iran about Israel’s energy system… They are helping Iran to launch attacks. We are talking about civilian infrastructure, nothing military in nature.”

Zelenskyy added that Russia is also transferring operational knowledge gained during its ongoing war against Ukraine.

“All the experience Russia has obtained during the war against Ukraine is being shared with Iran,” he said.

A Ukrainian source familiar with the matter told The Jerusalem Post that the list is divided into three categories based on importance: critical production facilities essential to maintaining the national electricity grid, major urban and industrial energy hubs, and local infrastructure sites.

According to the source, Russian intelligence views Israel as particularly vulnerable to such attacks due to the structure of its power system. Unlike many European countries, Israel operates largely as an “energy island,” meaning it produces most of its electricity domestically and is not connected to grids in neighboring countries.

Russian assessments reportedly indicate that damaging even a small number of key facilities could trigger a catastrophic failure across the grid.

Such a scenario could result in widespread and prolonged blackouts, severely disrupting daily life throughout the country.

The report comes in the final hours before a U.S. deadline for Iran to agree to a ceasefire.

The deadline is currently slated for 8 p.m. eastern time on Tuesday evening. If that deadline should pass without compliance, President Donald Trump has promised to strike critical civilian infrastructure in Iran.

Tehran has threatened retaliation against both Israel and Gulf states if that scenario occurs.
