Tehran resident told KAN Iranians prefer ‘focused’ Israeli strikes to US campaign

He said that there is a belief among many Iranians that Israeli military action would be more restrained.

An Iranian man identified as Ali told Israel’s public broadcaster KAN Reshet Bet on Sunday that many Iranians view a potential Israeli military strike as preferable to a US attack.

Ali said Iranians are living in constant anticipation of a possible US strike against the Islamic Regime, describing the mood as one of waiting “every minute and second.”

He said, however, that there is a belief among many Iranians that Israeli military action would be more restrained.

Ali pointed to Israeli Air Force strikes carried out in June, which he said were seen as precise and narrowly focused, while US strikes are widely expected to “bring terrible destruction, like in Iraq and Afghanistan.”

Ali told the broadcaster that the June strikes attributed to Israel concentrated on senior figures and operatives he referred to as “the mercenaries of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” as well as members of the regime’s leadership. According to Ali, those strikes avoided harm to “ordinary citizens” and did not damage economic infrastructure.

Further, he added that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has grown in popularity in Iran, with everyone calling him “Bibi-Gol [Bibi the flower],” while telling Ben-Ami that he has been learning Hebrew and that the regime has kept Hebrew-learning platforms open.

He also accused Iranian authorities of extreme violence in their response to recent anti-regime protests.

Ali said the regime has “brutally murdered and dismembered” more than 40,000 people and wounded hundreds of thousands more during demonstrations over the past two months.

Separately, Iranian students described clashes with security forces during interviews broadcast Sunday by N12 News.

One student from Sharif University said authorities believed closing campuses would quell dissent, but protests resumed when universities reopened on Saturday after a monthlong closure.

Another student from Amir Kabir University said demonstrators had organized a sit-in strike roughly 10 days in advance.

According to the student, Basij forces, security personnel and pro-regime students attempted to intimidate protesters, who responded with chants including “Death to the dictator,” “Freedom, freedom,” and “This is the year of blood – Ali [Khamenei] will fall.”
